1958 Yellowstone Vintage Camper Trailer 16 Foot For Sale

Found this one small travel trailer being offered for sale by the owner in Lockport, Illinois. The 16 feet long camper trailer model was released in 1958 by Yellowstone. In 2021 when 63 old, that was restored, and today is still in top-form condition. It could be perfect for those seeking a sleep 5-6 comfortably small camper trailer with a vintage look, light on weight, and possibly to tow by a little car.

Yellowstone was one of the few companies that didn’t venture into the larger type of mobile homes and carried out production activities from 1945 to 1990. "Good on the go and great when you get there" that for their marketing slogan. Yellowstone had 4 basic sizes, such as 16, 19, 24, and 27 feet.

This one offered here is a 16 feet example with a bedroom with a removable upper bunk and front table that can lower into another bed, a complete kitchen, also a toilet. The decent interior shown in the photos has about 1800lb dry weight, a total length of 16′, an overall body length of 14“, a width of 7′ interior height of 6’2”, 15×7:10 tires, 4“ steel channel frame, Gas Light, three burner stoves with oven and thermostat as factory standard equipment, all still there.

Original factory specs are all birch wood interior with fiberglass insulation. Completely undercoated construction with aluminum body skin, and everything was nailed, not screws. The well-appearance of freshly yellow paint over the white exterior matches the awning color scheme. After doing a lot of rebuilding on the framing area and all windows, a door, and a roof re-sealed, it would be solid for the next decades.

Even though the Yellowstone RV factory no longer exists, the products made after WW2 until the early 1990s are still used and preserved by some enthusiasts, as one example is offered here. Why so special? Because it had a birch interior, giving it a lighter, cozy feeling. It used household-type appliances, i.e. a full-range stove and a refrigerator. A little heavier to tow, but more comfortable to live in. It was rebuilt for useable purposes, ready for the next journey.
